Childhood disintegrative disorder

Abstract
Heller recognized the children who experienced a severe developmental regression after a normal period of development and proposed the term 'dementia infanilis' for this condition and reported it in 1908. But the following studies were
insufficient, the
diagnostic concept was not defined, and various names such as dementia infantilis, Heller's syndrome, disintegrative psychosis, symbiotic psychosis and childhood disintegrative disorder have been used for this condition Recently, childhood
disintegrative disorder was officially admitted as an independent disease entity by DSMIV and ICD-10, and the interest in this condition is increasing now. But, because of the lack of the previous studies on this condition, the definite concept,
the
characteristics, the relationship with autism or other similar conditions, the treatment and the prognosis of this condition are insufficient by now. Therefore the author summerizes and reports this condition through review of the literatures
concemed
to this condition.
